ABOUT

Kate Haanraadts is a New York–based artist specializing in hyperrealism, working primarily in colored pencil with occasional work in oil painting. Her work is grounded in precision, close observation, and the careful study of form, texture, and light.

Her subjects range from wildlife to objects rooted in nostalgia, often isolated to emphasize subtle detail and presence. In her ongoing series, “The Art of War,” Haanraadts examines the visual complexity of the betta fish, drawn to the contrast between its delicate appearance and inherently aggressive nature.

Her work has been featured on multiple occasions in Fine Art Connoisseur, including the October 2023 cover, and in Artist’s Network, where she earned a category win in the Best in Show competition. She has also been selected for exhibitions with the International Guild of Realism.

In addition to her studio practice, she is the founder of Garden City Drawing Board, where she teaches realism-based drawing and painting.
