Kate Haanraadts, a life long New Yorker, has spent a great deal of time exploring different subjects and mediums. The themes that continue to draw her in are the beauty and nostalgia in subjects that are personally meaningful to her.

In her current series "The Art of War", Haanraadts studies the vibrant intricacies of the tiny betta fish. She is captured by the contradiction between their astonishing beauty and highly aggressive nature.
